Dr Harwood was a remote area General Practitioner for almost 20 years, before moving to Queensland in 2016 to join the Royal Flying Doctor Service. She has been Chief Medical Officer since 2017. She is a thought leader in remote health, and her passion for enabling accessible, equitable and culturally appropriate health care for those in remote areas is infectious. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and holds a Fellowship in Advanced Rural General Practice, in addition to a Master in Public Health, Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Management, Diploma of Obstetric and Gynaecology, Diploma of Child Health and the Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine. She currently sits on the RACGP Queensland Faculty Board.
