Dr John Gelman is a senior visiting cardiologist at Monash Medical Centre, Victoria and former director of echocardiology (1989-2007). He is a consultant cardiologist at Cabrini Hospital, Melbourne and directs a private echo service in Gippsland. He has obtained the Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound and has been an examiner for ASUM. He is an adjunct senior lecturer, Department of Medicine, Southern Clinical School, Monash University, member of the American Society of Echocardiography, invited journal reviewer and speaker at national and international echo courses and meetings. His major interests include 3D transoesophageal echocardiography, particularly for guidance of percutaneous cardiac structural interventions. He is actively involved with training and teaching of clinical echocardiography.
