Dr Currie has a private cardiology practice which has evolved to become an integrated multispecialty medical organisation with 12 sites in Perth and Melbourne. Dr Currie graduated from Monash University, trained at the Alfred Hospital and completed a cardiology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, where he then served as a Senior Associate Cardiologist. He was a staff cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic for 3 years before spending 8 years as Director of Echocardiography at the Michigan Heart and Vascular Institute. In the USA, he was involved in pioneering many of the major advances in echocardiography (CW Doppler echo, intraoperative echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography). Currently he specialises in echocardiography and has research interests in sleep medicine, artificial intelligence and confocal endomicroscopy.
