Dr. Yi-Hong Chou is Chair Professor, Yuanpei University of Medical Technology, Professor of Radiology at National Yang Ming University School of Medicine, Taipei, Taiwan. Former Director, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Former chief of Medical Ultrasound and Breast Imaging Section at Taipei Veterans General Hospital.
He is currently the Administrative Councilor of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB). Immediate Past President of Asian-Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR), Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB), Immediate Past President of the Asian Society of Abdominal Radiology (ASAR), Asian Breast Diseases Association (ABDA), the former President of the Radiological Society of the ROC , the former President of Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, ROC (SUMROC), the former Chairman of Education Committee of the Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB) and the Associate Editor of the Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (the official journal of World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology, WFUMB). Chairman of Education Committee of the SUMROC, former Secretary and Councilor of the Asian-Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR), and the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Medical Ultrasound (JMU, the official journal of the AFSUMB).
Dr. Chou has been active in scientific and education programmes nationally and internationally, and has organized a number of international congresses (e.g., Presidents, Asian Congress of Ultrasound Contrast Imaging (ACUCI) 2017, 2014; Asian Congress of Abdominal Radiology (ACAR) 2013; Asian Breast Diseases Association (ABDA) 2013; Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOCR) 2010; AFSUMB 1998, etc, and a members of workshops and symposia, particularly on Ultrasound and Imaging of the Liver, Breast , Emergency and Critical Care. He has been awarded with more than 37 honors internationally or domestically. He is the Honorary members of the Japanese Society of Radiology, Japanese Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, and Korean Society of Ultrasound in Medicine, Korean Society of Radiology, and the Honorary Fellow of American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). Gold medalist of ASAR, Honorary speaker of Society of Abdominal Radiology (SAR), Honorary President of ACTA-Taipei, Honorary President of the World Interactive Network Focused On Critical Ultrasound (WINFOCUS) and World Congress of Ultrasound in Emergency and Critical Care.
He has expertise in all imaging modalities of abdominal and breast diseases, and emergency medicine and critical care. His scientific interests include ultrasound image analysis, computer-aided diagnosis and detection, and ultrasound-guided minimally interventional oncology. He has strong commitments to the teaching of clinical ultrasound and medical imaging, and all topics relating to ultrasound diagnosis, interventional procedures, and Doppler techniques. He devotes himself to promote the medical ultrasound education in the developing countries. He is one of the faculty of International Breast Ultrasound School (IBUS), and is also the Secretary General of the International Association for Breast Ultrasound.
Dr. Chou has published more than 410 publications-peer review, more than 395 Abstracts since 1982 (including 320 invited speeches), 5 Letters to The Editor, 4 Editorials, 5 publications in press, 18 chapters on various topics in the areas of ultrasound and radiology, and he has co-edited 4 books on Computer-aided Imaging, Breast Imaging, Imaging of Acute Abdomen and Thoracic Imaging. His current researches include clinical and experimental studies on various aspects of tumor vascularity with regard to color Doppler techniques and microbubble contrast agents, and interventional techniques in tumor ablation.
