    Professor Abramowicz, Director of ObGyn Ultrasound Services at the University of Chicago, is an Obstetrician-Gynecologist with special training in Ob/Gyn ultrasound (in London, UK, with Stuart Campbell). His medical degree is from the Sackler School of Medicine, in Israel, where he did his residency in Ob/Gyn. He did a special fellowship in the Division of MFM at EVMS, Norfolk, VA.

    He has over 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and over 250 invited presentations and lectures.

    He gave the William Fry award lecture at the 2011 AIUM Annual Convention (award honoring an AIUM member…significantly contributed to the scientific progress of diagnostic medical ultrasound) and received the AIUM Presidential award, as well as the March of Dimes Jonas Salk Leadership Award.

    He is the editor of the book “Ultrasound in the First Trimester, a Comprehensive Guide”, published in 2016 and co-editor of 3 books, including the 2018 8th edition of Fleischer’s textbook of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

    He is the past Chair of the Illinois Section of ACOG, past member of the Board of AIUM, past chair of the AIUM Obstetric Community of Practice and Chair of its Bioeffects Committee.

    He is a member of ISUOG and founding member and past Chair of its Safety Committee.

    He is a member of the executive bureau and treasurer of the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) and Chair of its Safety Committee

    He is on the WHO task force on Non-ionizing radiation guidelines and a member of the International Commission for Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP).
