    Peter Burns is Professor of Medical Biophysics and Radiology at the University of Toronto and Senior Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute, Toronto. He obtained his PhD in Radiodiagnosis at the University of Bristol, UK before moving to Yale University in 1984 and University of Toronto in 1991. His research began with blood flow detection using Doppler ultrasound, where he was part of early efforts to detect tumour blood flow, then microbubble contrast agents, where he helped pioneer nonlinear imaging methods used widely today. His current work focuses on the development of imaging strategies and injectible agents for diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound.
