    Po-Jen Cheng is presently the Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology of Chang Gung Medical University. He is also the chief of Obstetrics, Maternal and Fetal Medicine and founding chief of Medical Genetic Department in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan.
    His main research fields of interest are fetal ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, high-risk pregnancy, gene-environmental investigation of common fetal abnormalities, amniotic fluid stem cell, and fetal gene and cell therapy. He is principal investigator of several research projects from the National Science Council, the Department of Health, Bureau of Health Promotion, and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.
    He is one of pioneers of modern Taiwanese perinatology and has contributed to reducing the rate of maternal morbidity and mortality, and the occurrence of fetal abnormality in Taiwan. In 1996, he set up the first diagnostic ultrasound center to introduce the first trimester screening in the prenatal assessment of the fetal aneuploidies in Taiwan area. In 2002, he first introduced the prenatal guidelines and protocol for prevention of early-onset neonatal Group B streptococcus (GBS) infection in Taiwan. In 2009, he implemented a Maternal Postpartum Pertussis Immunization Program (PPIP) in Taiwan, which was the first practically cocooning protocol in preventing infant pertussis infection in Pacific Asia.
    During the past 10 years he has been aggressively engaged in the post doctoral education for maternal and fetal medicine. He organized several congresses and courses in Taiwan, including the Cross Strait Forum for Perinatal Medicine (2008-2019), Pacific Ocean Congress of Patient Safety in Obstetrics(2009-2018), and the International Conference of Fetal Medicine in Taiwan (2010-2018). He attended as invited speaker in more than 300 Congresses, Symposia, and Courses in China, Taiwan, and abroad.
